Could be improved
In the absence of an alternative, yes this somewhat meets the bare requirement.
The design in this day and age must improved to align with the two sides that are attached. When connected you can see that additional strain put on ends due to lack of proper design and also the cable tends to get caught in the lid when shutting the id, both of which puts additional strain on the wrong parts of the cable.

Good cable reasonably priced
Jacks slide in and out smoothly, cable quality is good and the coloured jacks make MIDI IN and OUT identifiable easily.
