One of the best rock and roll bios I've ever read.
It's a shame to see 2 camps bickering over this very tragic situation. I have read this book twice and just finished Joey Molland's new bio that I purchased at Chicago Beatlefest. (A very nice and very funny guy and a great performer, by the way.) Both books together paint a wider picture of this wonderful band. But I have to say that WITHOUT YOU is most definitely one of the best researched and best written rock biographies I have ever read. It's a shame that Molland did not participate as he has some great insights and some accurate clarifications Matovina could have used. I do not feel Pete Ham was "elevated to sainthood". Matovina only underscored what we already knew; that Pete Ham was an incredibly talented near-genius with unfortunately just too soft of a trusting heart. This book is a great read, regretfully out of print, but can be found on-line in pdf form. Find it and read it! I give it 4 out of 5 stars only because of surviving members' lack of participation.
