A good place to start
Voivod are one of the most under rated bands of all time. Despite a lack of good publishing and distribution (especially in Europe and the UK) Voivod have continued from their early thrash days through an amazing transformation to become one of the most respected bands by their peers. If you don't know much about this band, get this CD as a great jumping off point. If thrash is your thing, then the first half of the cd will be awesome for you. If however, you're like me and were brought up on a diet of Slayer and Metallica for the last 20 years or so and are now looking for a more mature sound, then the latter tracks on the CD are inspirational. Keep in mind though that this CD only spans their contributions up to 2001. Eric Forest took control of the vocals for a spell afterwards and the band seemed to go full circle with the following CD's Negatron and Phobos (very industrial / thrash). Although I'm a massive fan (and actually had the privilege to meet them, before guitarist Piggy's passing) I'd be gullible to think that everyone will enjoy every track, but the reality is that there should be something for everyone here. I'd highly recommend Killing Technology for the thrashmongers out there, Phobos for the Industrialists and probably Nothingface or Dimension Hatross for the metal masses just looking for something unusual. RIP Piggy, you are sorely missed dude.

An early offering by Cradle of Filth
1 of 1 found this helpful CofF are one of those bands you either love or despise. If you are a fan or if you are just checking this band out for the first time, then Principle is a great CD to have in your collection. It's an early offering and the vocals can be a bit screechy, but it's still a belter. Ask ANY serious CofF wraith what their top 5 tracks are and either Funeral in Carpathia (from their CD Dusk and her Embrace) or Black Goddess Rises will be in that list. Be warned though, Danni's vocals are shall we say, an experience. I'd put this CD in my top 3 guarenteed to upset your parents and your neighbours. Other CofF must haves are Bitter Suites for Succubi (containing the remake of a few tracks of this CD) and Nymphetamine. Play so loud your house crumbles !!!
