Much fun to be had in this gritty (and gory) historical adventure

Fun boy's own capper on the "disapearance" of the 9th Legion. Much better than The Eagle, which is in a way a follow up to this story.The forbidding highland landscape, the battle scenes (good amount of realistic gore) and the acting are top notch. I would have prefered more in terms of large scale battle scenes as the film's main focus is the escape from the tracking Picts...However the film succeeds on its own merits and plays like an updated gritty historical adventure.
