42.2mm Black Nut Wrench Screw for FLOYD ROSE Tremolo Double Locking System
24 Nov, 2018
Too many flaws
I wanted a Floyd Rose nut for a cheapo parts/experimental guitar I have. I didn't want to spend much on it and these Chinese nuts looked like they might be just what I needed. Biggest problem is that the metal is too soft. I ground a bullet relief into the rear of it and just from being clamped on either end, bent the nut. So that it had a reverse radius. I bent it back to a somewhat normal state by pounding it. I should have stopped right there. I then noticed that the "V" cutouts at the front of the nut (the zero point) were not flush with the area where the strings lay on the nut, the area under the three clamps. In other words, where the strings broke over the zero point on their way to the tuners, there was a small area just that side of the zero point where the strings were not resting on the nut. This caused the strings to go much sharper than usual when clamped down due to them being pinched in the gap. I solved this by grinding the edges of the three clamps so they weren't square but curved and they put no pressure on the problem spots. I gave up after one of the clamping screw holes stripped. I should have guessed this was coming, first by how easily the nut bent but also when clamping there was never a hard stop like real Floyd nuts I've used (since 1984). It always seemed like I could tighten it a bit more. Yes, it's $2 and for use on cheap guitars but it kills the fun when it doesn't work properly.
Fender 500K Split Shaft Volume or Tone Control Pot

Good pot, good value.
I can't say anything bad about the pot. It's a bit stiff to turn as some have mentioned but it certainly isn't the stiffest turn I've felt in a pot. Otherwise it works fine. It has a brass shaft which I haven't seen before. I've only seen silver/zinc.
15ft. Kirlin 1/4" Mono Straight/Right-Angle Male/Male Instrument Cable

Kirlin Is Tha Bomb
For the price I don't think you can beat these Kirlin cables. I have the 15' angled/straight and a bunch of pedal cables, and a Y cable by Kirlin and they're all great.
