Sadly, I think the TrackR is a complete waste of money!!
I expected it to be able to locate something - like a bicycle - if it was stolen, however, the TrackR relies on several things being in place in order to get a very rough estimate of where an item might be. It needs:
- A random person passing by with the TrackeR app on his phone (very unlikely).
- The random person must have his bluetooth active (fairly unlikely)
- The random person must be within 40 feet (100 feet is a pipe dream!) of the TrackR - AND...
- The TrackR unit must "link" to his app on his phone (very unlikely - in fact, did not link once!)
I tried to locate the TrackR unit from a remote location via another persons mobile with the TrackR app installed on that persons phone and blue tooth on however, it would not "link" or even communicate. Then when I got home, I tried to find the TrackR on my phone and it had forgotten the unit altogether.
So, unless there are major improvements I will definitely not recommend anyone buy this.
