great quality
4 of 13 found this helpful #1- A local barista told me when setting a machine (sipping spro after spro) you will want to drink more straight water than espresso... save you from disorganization in the stomach . #2- My first spro pulled for 90 seconds. I keep the tamp the same every time, some say 15lbs. but I do 30lbs. The brew time I adjust by grind. I dose my grinds by weight. I do 18 grams of coffee and 27 grams espresso but it will vary:[ I think the temp surfing methods on internet are to cold. Flush your machine and when the boiler turns on turn on the timer and shut off the brew simultaneously. At 40 seconds flush it for 3 seconds, put on the portafilter (I like to tamp during the 50sec.) and start pulling your shot at 50 seconds and try to end at 1 minute 17 seconds. #3- If you have your friends over for coffee you don't want to temp surf. A pid control kit found here on Ebay will take almost all inconsistency out of your shots. #4- The steam is a little wet but is powerful. The drip tray is small but you can easily plumb it to the sink. The steam wand is low but a 2"x10"x12" piece of stained hickory will work. The tamper is less then usable. You probably understand I love the modded silvia.

Nice usable grinder.
It grinds consistently but it clumps some. I use a pin to break the clumps which takes a little time but I also saw a pin beside a buddy's Macap M4.
