D70 is now an oldie ... but certainly a goldie!!
2 of 2 found this helpful Although i have a new Nikon D3100 i wanted to "go back in time" to the D70 as it has a faster flash sync speed than just about any other non pro DSLR. I take many images for web and magazine publication of motorcycle trials riding, and most of the events are held in woodland so the fast flash sync is brilliant on this camera.. enabling me to capture the bikes at speed but in the relative darkness.
The D70 is larger than the D3100 and this actually makes it easier to use when wearing gloves to keep the cold at bay!! And of course the price and availability of the AF lenses is much better than the lenses needed on the modern DX models as they don't have to have the motor inside the lens.
Only minus point i can think of is that the rear screen is very small compared to the newer models, but then the camera is around 6 years old now and i don't use the screen much when i am out an about shooting pictures at a muddy cold event.
