Nice gadget, terrible MP3 player.

Bought it as a gift to my sister in law. She wanted a PMP. You get the same features of an iPhone, with a thinner, lighter and quarter of price device. It has better battery life, looks better, connects by WiFi, just without the cellular interface. She already owns a phone, so why pay 900$ instead of 250$? Overall, it's a nice piece of hand held device. WiFi works great, surfing the web is a good experience, and all the applications / games / camera / video features are all the you can expect from a hand held device. Interface is intuitive and responsive, and so is the music library / control. All the rest it awful!!! Sound quality is one of the worst I've ever experienced. The supplied earphones filter half the bandwidth, at least. Even using my Sennheiser pair could not compensate for that. Digital sound effects made it even worse. Battery life sucks. You can't add a memory card, so you'll have to do with 32GB, which may be enough for now but not for long. Connection with PC is only by iTunes SW, no mass storage interface. Luckily, my sis in law is young enough and full of enthusiasm, and has no respect for sound quality (or music quality what so ever) so it's OK for her. I have a Cowon D2+ 16GB, with mass storage IF, mem card slot, much much superior sound quality and 52 hours battery life. Can't even compare...

Functions great, compact slick design, very convenient - perfect solution

Excellent product, switching seamlessly the DVI display + USB keyboard + USB mouse + sound, with a touch of a button or DBL clickin the middle mouse button. Switch action is very fast, and PCs (laptops) on both ends act is if still connected. Compact and light, slick design, made my desk much more organized and better looking, overall. Can be personalized and configured using the keyboard with special hot keys to support special keyboards and choose button for switch action. Firmware is upgradable as well. Two flaws I can comment on: ============================ 1. Im using an IBM PS2 keyboard with (cheap Chinese) USB adaptor and it turned out to be incompatible in a way - when pressing a button for long time to make it repeat, the rate becomes constantly slow, regardless of the setting in windows. This did not happen on a native USB keyboard. ATENs customer support were kind enough and quickley responded, suggesting to replace the adaptor with a different type of PS2 to USB converter. 2. The length of the speaker-out wire (green) is too short to connect to some ThinPads, since display and sound sockets are from different sides, so additional wiring is needed.
