Easy Keyboard Replacement
1 of 1 found this helpful Bought this for my old Dell Inspiron 1012 (a small Netbook about 10 years old) which was upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. It is fairly slow on Windows 10 but still useful for internet browsing. A key cap fell off the old keyboard and try as I might, I could not get it back in place as it was too fiddly for me. I saw this vendors advert and thought I would give it a try because keyboard replacement is as easy as removing just 3 screws from the back of the computer and plugging in a ribbon cable. The new keyboard looked to be identical to the old keyboard and it was well packaged too. First I had a look on Youtube to see if there were any snags to look out for and I found a great video on the subject of Dell 1012 keyboard replacement.
After removing the battery pack for safety reasons, I got to work with just a screwdriver, removed 3 screws and popped out the old keyboard. Next, I unplugged the old keyboard (use gentle pressure) and then plugged in the new keyboard. Then the new keyboard was pushed back into position and the 3 screws replaced. Upon booting up, the new keyboard worked flawlessly.
For such an old and slow computer, it was not worth paying a fortune for a new keyboard so I guess the asking price for the new one was about right. However, I now have my old netbook working again, on Windows 10 too. I just wish it was faster but it is old so what the heck, its good to have it as a spare in case my main PC should ever break down. Overall I am one highly satified customer.

Battery Soldering Iron
I bought this for the convenience it offers being cordless. It certainly works well using just 3 AA cells which should be of the alkaline variety. I did try it with three 2700mAH NiMH AA cells but found them too tight a fit for the battery compartment so reverted to the AA alkaline cells which worked a treat. It may have been that my NiMH cells were slightly oversized, smaller capacity ones may have fitted but this was not tried. It is good for light soldering such as electronic pcb work and thin wires but to solder big items would probably require more power than this has. Use the right tool for the job as usual.

Bought for an 8 year old!!
Bought this for an 8 year old boy who seems to have a natural interest in the workings of the Human Body. The subject has been made interesting and entertaining by the author so I know the book will satisfy his curiosity and may even inspire him to become a medical professional in later life. That would be good.
