Good Quality for an older item
My first 3170, I used for about 15 years, and many thousands of scans until it just stopped working.
The templates for negative & slide scans were handy during the years I shot freelance pro photography
using film,to convert film files into digital format. That was quite the "Learning curve" in 2002!.
The driver download is still available for up to Windows 8 (not sure on 10--haven't checked w/Epson).
The software and screens are easy to navigate and provide a generous variety of options for your scans.
I was happy with this product during the years I used it, so I bought another one.
I acquired this unit (used) recently which came without the templates--but that was ok as I
still had mine, as well as the power cord and USB connection cord. The unit works fine with
Windows 8 that I am running now.
