I remember reading this book when I was younger and being impressed by 'The Painter of Modern Life" by Him wherein he criticizes Historical Paintings and lays out an idea of a Modern Art that responds to Present Day Life which much resembled The Impressionist's Ideals. Also his Translating Edgar Allen Poe to French for the first time inspiring the likes of Mallarme, Verlaine, and Villiers de L'isle Adam in Paris.
