You get little squares of sandpaper at different grades that you rub over the scratch before you polish it with a cloth/paste. Yes, it fixed the error where an audio CD was skipping but it doesn't leave the best finish on the CD surface itself, that's what I'm disappointed about. Unless I've done it wrong you can see small scratches. I would suggest to practice first on a disposable CD that you're not bothered about, just to get an idea of the finish and what to expect. Overall it worked.
