Dyson DC07All Floors Upright Vacuum Cleaner
I bought this Dyson DC07, used, because I have one of the first generation base model Dyson uprights and wanted another inexpensive one for my basement. I am not disappointed. My preference in vacuum types is upright as opposed to canister or stick or even a central vac system. I've had an Hoover WindTunnel in the past, and I didn't think any moderately-priced cleaner could surpass it, but I proved myself wrong. Five years ago, at my local Sears store, I brought in a small container of baby powder, another with beach sand, and a third with light gravel. I asked the salesperson to allow me to test three of their demo uprights: some Kenmore model, an Hoover WindTunnel and a base model Dyson. I spread out some of each container on both dark a dark-colored rug and a light-colored rug, there in the store. I made 5-6 passes with the Kenmore to get most everything up and then tried the WindTunnel which took only 3 passes. Then I tried the Dyson. 1-2 passes was all it took, and I was sold! I paid $370 for my first generation base model, brand new, but I bought it on sale at Home Depot since Sears refused to come down that low. Oh, and I don't usually recommend getting extended warrantees, but I think purchasing it for this $400 - $600 vacuum, especially if is is the only one you have and depend upon, is a prudent idea. Dysons do have their share of problems, as most anything does nowadays. I also did plenty of online research then and again before I purchased this second Dyson. There are still more rave reviews for Dysons than rants. However, I will add that I did have a couple of minor problems with my first vac, but their customer service walked me through the troubleshooting, patiently and thoroughly, over the phone. I was VERY impressed. It seems, though, that from what I've read, their customer service is less impressive these days, but still very good. I've also read that there are a good percentage of problems with the plastic cracking and breaking on Dysons, but I have not experienced that. My first one has proven quite durable. I will note that the Dyson marketing credo of not clogging and never losing suction is deceptive. Simple physics explains that ANY vacuum will clog, but proper maintenance will keep that to a minimum, and in the past 5 years, mine has never clogged. It has, however, lost some suction. I'm sure that a simple cleaning and replacement of the filters will restore most of it, but not all. Everything wears out, of course, and this effects the amount of suction of ANY vacuum, but cyclonics less-so than traditional. So, since I have no allergies and no special needs, nor a very big or expensive dwelling, I was not about to fork over the big bucks for a Miele or similar high-end vacuum. Dyson was the ticket, for me, and I was thrilled to find an auction for a used one for under $75, including shipping. I've seen older used ones continually and consistently go for $100 and up. I enjoy the fact that this vacuum isn't too heavy like the Bissell Healthy Home or the Hoover WindTunnel. I like that it is bagless and I enjoy the way the canister has a trigger release to dump the contents into a trash bag with minimal mess. It is not the quietest vacuum, but it is not the loudest, either, and the moderate level of noise is acceptable with me. I find everything easy to work with except the wand/hose on my first. I wish they had embedded dirt finders/indicators, but overall, I love my Dysons!

Why bother with the office supply B&M store?
    Works. Fraction of retail price.

Good pop rock but lacks a bit of punch
Like a previous reviewer, I anticipated harder music with the punch that would have really highlighted and showcased Chris' great and unique vocal talents. Most of the songs are a bit on the bland pop side. To Daughtry's credit, there isn't a 'dog' of a song in the bunch, however. So, this CD is good, especially for an initial release; but hopefully the next one will feature a bit more variety in the blend. I'd like to hear some melodies and lyrics with more contrast and punch in the mix. Harder rock would simply suit his vocal style much better.
