Fantastic classic tracks but not the entire original album.
I bought this as I have the vinyl LP from my childhood. This volume has most of the original album but do note the exceptions if you are looking to replicate it. There is no 'Tubby at the circus', 'Uncle pockets' or 'Hole in the bottom of the sea'...there may be other exceptions too. There are many additional tracks added, many of which are excellent.
Having said that, what is on this cd is excellent. The sound quality is really good and there are many classic and some very funny tracks. It represents great value and the only reason for my 4 star review as opposed to 5 is the missing tracks mentioned.

The most authentic and complete Jane Eyre, brilliantly acted.
I had not seen this version before buying, but I am delighted that I bought.
The short-comings are mostly technical - the picture is grainy in the less lit scenes and the changes of scene do have different picture and sound quality (indoor to outdoor is the best example). Those limits are simply 'of the time'. The only other slight negative is that Timothy Dalton is just a little too handsome and a little too young to be the perfect Rochester as described in the book.
Those minor (very minor) negatives are more than made up for in the overall casting, the completeness of the offering and the pure quality of the acting, particularly Dalton who is majestic in his portrayal. He captures the dourness, humour, passion, frailty, intelligence and pain of the man, faithfully and accurately. At 312 minutes he is allowed to deliver full and meaningful dialogue from the book in an impressive manner.
All the rest of the cast are excellent. The pace and darkness of the story are well reflected but that can be an issue for some elements of modern audiences. This version is the most complete and probably the longest, which makes it most accurate but also not a fast moving Hollywood type of version.
So, if you want the most complete and authentic Jane Eyre, you will love this version.
