  Left one high bid and one lower bid on two of the same items this seller had on eBay, I wanted one item, thinking I would buy one and some one else would bid higher than me on the lower priced item, both got run up to just below my bid, the same bidder for one item, then just the same with a different bidder on the next item, asked for a combined postage, he forgot, but did offer a deal if I bought another item

  I am not sure what the issue is in respect of your purchases. You bid on two items and won them both, I genuinely forgot to combine postage and offered a solution.
