I've always had a soft spot for bands who are a little bit different. The Flaming Lips come under that category. At War With The Mystics is on a par with their classic albums Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots and The Soft Bulletin. They mix psychedelic sounds with classic pop hooks from heaven. The singles The W.A.N.D. and The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song are great examples of this. Be warned though, it will take a few listens to get it if you are not used to The Lips and their other worldly sounds !

David Bowie : Heroes/Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps) CD
25 Apr, 2019
His best album of the 80s
To many, this is Bowie's last truly great album. Although I find many redeeming features from his albums after this, I have to agree! This album is a corker. We all know the hits Ashes To Ashes, Fashion, and possibly the title track and Up The Hill Backwards. These are supplemented by some other great songs including Teenage Wildlife, Because You're Young, Kingdom Come, Scream Like A Baby and It's No Game parts 1 & 2 . Not one duff track to be found! I would recommend this album as one of the first 5 albums to buy to anyone who is interested in starting their Bowie collection, the others being Hunky Dory, Ziggy, Station To Station and Low.
