Allow your creativity to run free...
4 of 4 found this helpful Here's an opportunity to duplicate Laurel Burch's distinctive designs in a one of a kind quilt. Applique, painting and embellishing techniques are all used to create striking wall art. Primary colors dominate...this is not quilting for the color timid! Patterns are included (a few full-sized, many require enlargement)along with suggestions for paints, etc. There is a strong emphasis upon her whimsical animals, primarily dogs and cats. My favorite pattern is one which features a host of winged cat fairies superimposed upon a bold background. Basic knowledge of quilting and machine applique would be useful, as there is only general information given as to the actual techniques. I think this is a great book for those looking to explore the options beyond traditional quilting!

Help for Novice Sewers
As a novice sewer I can sometimes find many of the more sophisticated sewing techniques a little overwhelming. This video presents those techniques in a simple, easy to understand fashion. Featuring close up views (something too often overlooked in many instructional videos)of the instructor as he sews, the video explains the fine detailing that make projects professional and eye-catching. In addition, the moderator meets with top designers and explores their signature trademarks. Plenty of visual appeal to whet your appetite to create your own masterpiece!
