Good old fashion radio
3 of 4 found this helpful You must know this radio and its nuances before you buy it, because programming it is not via computer. Once programmed manually, you have a very versatile multi-band radio for emergency and routine use.

Great radio
Yaesu makes a sturdy and precise radio for everyday use without too many complicated menus. Excellent for mobile, home base or go-kit use.

Excellent all band HF, VHF, and UHF transceiver
5 of 5 found this helpful This multipurpose radio is excellent for the field ham radio operator who wants 100 watts of HF SIngle Side Band, 50 watts of VHF and UHF, while using external batteries or power. When using optional internal batteries, it becomes a QRP radio at 20 watts. After returning from the field, park this rig on your desk and continue to enjoy its use. Other options that can be purchased is an internal power supply for a smaller footprint. Otherwise, an external power supply is another option. Such versatility makes it an attractive radio to own. Though no longer being manufactured, it is frequently available used. Third party internal batteries are available online and Yaesu continues to offer technical support of this popular rig.
