A typical diy product seem like a good idea but not.

No good to use as a skim
2 of 2 found this helpful The product is ok for nail holes in woodwork& in the walls/ceiling. It is no good for using as a skim coat on a rough area, it'll look fine until you emulsion paint over it. The next day it'll be full of very small crazing over the skimmed area. Then there's a problem getting over that. Red devil onetime is an American product pity it didn't stay there! I am a painter &a decorator and have been for 46years. Thank you Graham-Pegg
