1 of 1 found this helpful This pump just serves the function of recirculating hot water, but does not have the attached timer which cuts the cost. Due to a lack of an exterior power outlet near the tank, I connected the pump under the sink with two 3-way valves (1/2 FIP, 1/2 compression, and 3/8 compression) and two 16 inch hoses with comparable sizes (all from Home Depot store). The pump plugs to a 3-wire extension with an on/off switch, and can provide hot water for only 30 seconds after turning on and shut off immediately (to avoid hot water in the cold faucet). It is expected that the pump can last for a long long time with this setting.
