Psychedelic Reggae - Classic Rocks Meets Roots!
Personally, I LOVE this CD because I grew up in the psychedelic era of classic rock and I later did a 6-7 year stint of listening to almost nothing but reggae with occasional classic rock regression on the side. After Bob Marley and the Wailers (natch!), the Wailing Souls were my favorite reggae group - roots reggae, unforgettable melodies - inspirational and profound lyrics - check them out! From the first cut from the Doors, the Wailing Souls' sound is instantly recognizable, yet so is the song Love Her Madly. I was fascinated, I was hooked, looking forward to each track, wondering how would they do Like a Rolling Stone? Buffalo Springfield's For What it's Worth? If you're an old hippie who also loves reggae, you should really hear this CD. A little poetic license with the lyrics but you won't mind. If you missed the 60s but just love reggae - you'll dig it too! And I thought, this is cool - the Wailing Souls had to have listened to classic rock to find the songs they'd like to cover, and I like the idea that something from that time also spoke to them. Because that was a time of One Love and Give Peace a Chance. Will it ever return?
