Smokes my old Netgear N600
4 of 4 found this helpful I moved into a new house a couple years ago, and brought along my old N600 wireless router. But with the brick construction and layout of my house, I had some serious holes in my wifi coverage. Unfortunately, one of them was where my TV, PS3, PS4, and Apple TV live. I was getting 3-4Mbps on a good day to those devices, and that doesn't cut it with all the online gaming and streaming video I do.
So I began researching good wireless routers for strong signals at a distance, and the AC1900 came up in several reviews. It's not the latest generation of alien-looking contraptions, but it was highly rated for strength at distance.
After installing it, I was seeing improvement immediately. And then a little tweaking of the position and antenna angles got me what I was looking for. 100Mbps to my entertainment devices, which live 1 floor down and about 50 feet away, with a huge beam running between points A and B. Amazing!

Great upgrade from the 650 with rechargeable battery!
I've had a few Harmony remotes, and I have gotten used to the layout of the 650. I was looking to replace it, and ran across the 700 - even better! Same remote, but nice USB recharging.
I run a whole bunch of devices through this remote, and it's so simple to program, too.
If it's the first time, you just tell it your devices, and go through the list of what you want turned on and configured for each activity. (i.e. for "Watch TV", I want my TV turned on and set to input 1, my Dish DVR on, my Amp on and set to my Dish input). Then one button turns your other stuff off, and that stuff on. And if you switch (say, to BluRay player, it knows that your TV is already on, so it switches to Input 2, switches your Amp to the BluRay input, and turns off your Dish DVR).
If you've had a harmony remote configured in the past, and you're upgrading, you just tell their software your new remote, and it will load all your programs into the new remote without you having to re-program everything.
These remotes make my fairly complicated A/V setup accessible to my wife who doesn't like too many buttons, too ;-)
