Great movie for 90s computer nerds.
This movie seriously entertains the heck out of me every time. Not because the movie is so good that it can't fail - but because it brings me back to being excited over paltry, mid-90s, computer hardware specs. It gets me every time. The movie itself is weird. It starts off cutting to scenes from random other movies when Dade has specific emotional responses. Those cut-to's eventually disappear (or at least disappear into the action at the end). Matthew Lillard is literally the shining light of acting for this particular film because he's also so weird in it - and that's saying a lot, considering he was in the new Scooby movies (have you seen 'em? C'mon!). I'd have to say the absolute highest point of awkward filming in this movie is when the crew are in the phone booths near the end and the film cuts to this weird montage where the phone booths are spinning. I mean... wut? With all of this, and in spite of all of this (and I could be more nitpicky - but I'm not THAT pretentious) this movie is 100% amazing and 200% worth it. Plus, the soundtrack is awesome and Penn Gillette is in it - how could anyone hate it from those two facts alone? Side note: it doesn't look as though the film was remastered for the bluray, but the quality was still significantly better than anything you'd get off of a DVD.
