A fine and legendary optics from Nikon!
1 of 1 found this helpful I have owned this type of lens since the film days and have always wanted one when I went into dslrs and since it's an affordable lens especially used, I got one again. The only minor issue with this lens is it's motor driven AF, yet even with this limitation, I consider it sufficiennt for my use. Comparing to other lenses, the Nikkor 180mm AF is a fine lens with excellent optics. A legend no doubt.

Nikon DK-17 for Nikon D3X
As expected from a genuine Nikon product, it fits well and the glass is first rate.

Another Nikon legend and a very fine lens!
Having owned the Nikon 18-35mm AF ED IF, I had high hopes with this Nikon 17-35mm AFS lens. This lens is awesome. It has great micro contrast and sharpness and is resilient to flaring. Rendition of images are beautiful with the mention that it has great sharpness on the center which makes it seem this lens was designed for DX, since it was released along with the Nikon D1 series. On FX, it still exhibits very good to excellent sharpness and details. A portion of users complain of its weight but I personally think it balances well with lighter bodies. Comparing it to Nikon prime lenses, this zoom lens combines performance and affordability into one, especially at used prices.
