Sony Zeiss 35mm f/2.8 FE ZA Lens

The best lens to balance full frame Sony bodies.
I have had my Sony A7iii body for just over a year. I have bought several lenses for it including the 24-105 f4 and 55mm f1.8. To me this Zeiss lens is THE lens for this camera. Why, the focal length is the most versatile prime, this Zeiss gives tack sharp results, and it feels just right on this camera body. With this lens the Sony A7iii actually feels right in the hand. I have not found this to be the case with heavier lenses unless you put on the extra grip on it.

Good Lens But 55mm filter
I bought this lens because it has the fast focus motor in it like my 35mm f1.8 Nikon lens. The old one produced horrible noise on videos. This new one is a vast improvement as expected. Now it focuses very quickly with only a small amount of noise. I also liked that Ken Rockwell stated on his blog that this was a very sharp lens, more so than the previous one. So far I can tell you I love the fast focus, but the still photos look the same as from the last lens. One feature I do not like about this lens is it is 55mm filters and not the 52mm of the old one. Many Nikon DX lenses, and all the ones I own have 52mm. So I had to buy new ones for 55. Although I have one other lens on another camera that also takes 55mm, so not so bad. This lens works well. If you don't care about the focus motor noise on video then you don't need to upgrade.

Great automatic and manual SLR Film Camera
This is my second one of these. I got my first one through inheritance and was absolutely pleased beyond what I expect with the ease of use, size, and most importantly the quality of the images. I also have three other vintage film cameras. This particular camera body is pretty much unknown. It was made just when camera functions were being automated. It has things like auto focus, matrix metering, auto film load and rewind. Plus a bright viewfinder with easy to read digital information in it. I pair this camera with my modern Nikon D5500 digital. They are both nearly the same size and look. The Nikon has a little nicer exterior finish, but this Minolta has a much better viewfinder. The other key thing to know about this SLR is that it's functions are with buttons and switches and not menus. The Nikon has a very good touchscreen to adjust functions, but it is much quicker and easier to use the Minolta. This camera is a sleeper. Maybe not as nice to look at as my Olympus OM2n's or my Voightlander, but this one is way way easier to use. Even if you don't know anything about operating a film camera you can use this one. That is not the case on my Oly cameras. On this one you just set to program and shoot away. This prime lenses are the sharpest, but if you want a low cost good zoom the Minolta 30-70 is very sharp and very cheap. The best lens I have for this camera is the Quantaray - Sigma 50mm f2.8 macro. A great sharp standard prime with wonderful bokeh.
