Very hard to get plates into slots

Great price but getting the plates to slide into the slots really difficult without a lot of effort. The plastic is very inflexible. I did get one plate in but if I had to use as much effort to get the plates in when the mount was on the car the screws would just be ripped out. Maybe my plates are slightly thicker.
