The "new/sealed" filter was actually old and expired.
1 of 1 found this helpful Although this filter was still "sealed" and unboxed, my GE refrigerator did not recognize it because it was old and the RFID chip had expired. I've owned my refrigerator for over 5 years, replaced the water filter regularly, and never had this problem. I should have known better that to buy it "cheap" from a thrift-type store on E-Bay. I will gladly send it back for a refund.
