Alan Wake Remastered - Xbox One / Series X - 2021

Remaster of a thrilling, game in the style of a Stephen King novel.

An amazing game from my Xbox 360 days, remastered for play on Series consoles. This game has one of the best storylines of any game that I have played and if you have never played it, it is well worth a punt. If you like Stephen King and similar horror/psychological thriller stories, then this will definitely appeal. As for the remaster itself: It's not in any way comparable to the extensive work that was done for the Resident Evil 4 remaster. This is more a of a re-skin, with upscaled graphics running in 4k at 60fps. The control system and maps are directly from the original and as such, haven't been updated and have their original clunkiness in places. Some of the cutscenes are a bit dodgy. If you have played Alan Wake 2 but not Alan Wake, it is well worth playing this one as a lot of the lore, locations, characters and general setup follows on from this game in Alan Wake 2. Overall, if you are a fan of the original or didn't play it the first time around, then this is definitely worth considering.
