Beamz Slim Par 18x 1W RGB LEDs DMX Uplighter DJ Flat Can Stand Mountable Remote

For the price its fantastic!
I really can't comment on the far more expensive par lighting units as i am only just gradually entering into the mobile dj arena... However i can say that i was not only pleasantly surprised by the amount of light and effect that this unit gives but at the cost of a few lightbulbs from b&q you receive a professional looking unit with its own floor stand and remote control. I set two of these up for a local private room party and received a lot of positive feedback from these two lighting units alone. They offer a static colour wash of various colours, a slow fade of preset colour sequences, a dance lighting effect and strobe function too. The units are well packaged on arrival and come with a short iec to mains uk power lead, ir remote control (which is fairly generic for led remotes) and a documented instruction manual. The adjustable stand or truss mounting bracket is self explanatory and comes with bolts that have a user friendly plastic top (i believe they are called helicopter fasteners) either way, very simple to put together. I'm not sure if I'd spend the extra on purchasing the 36 led unit unless i was planning on using them in a much larger room as these seem bright enough. My only real quibble would be that the sound sensitivity appears to rely on a physical 'thump' as opposed to more expensive built in microphone units which respond to audio as opposed to bass beats. I've noticed in sound mode they change colours from people bumping the floor? There's also some very minor cheapness to the finish of the beamz backlit logo on the top rear of the unit... but to be totally honest for a little over 30 pounds each it's difficult to fault them. If you're having a house party or planning events in a medium-sized venue buying 2 or 3 of these will certainly add some warmth to the room.
for what this cost and considering you get 20 blades, I can't really fault it for value. if you have never used one before it might be worth reading up on 'how to fit a blade to a shavette' as it doesn't come with any instructions (hence 4 stars instead of 5) still it shaves well seems to be of a reasonable quality for the price and is a good opportunity to learn how to shave the way grandaddy used to do it :) wouldn't recommend trying it in the dark or whilst you're half asleep though. nice gift idea.

It's well made but not indestructible!
The first thing you notice is the size of this; the handle appears to offer several grip positions one of which resembles a firemans axe.
The blade itself is not supplied as sharp as it could be and the protruding rear spike appears to have a very limited blade area to it.
I personally dislike the black painted dusty look to the head of the axe - after attacking a coca cola can in the kitchen for 2 minutes the coating became damaged and so did the blade which was disappointing.
The rear spike dulled as well but remained undamaged.
I really like the protective cover however it is incredibly well finished and is one sure fire winner in the over all finish of this piece.
It's weighted nicely and looks fantastic on my wall amongst other collectible items.
From an aesthetic point of view it looks more expensive than it is and the fact it is sharp and secured to the handle via two heavy duty fixings gives you faith it isn't about to fall apart very easily.
I haven't used this to cut anything else because quite frankly I'm afraid it would trash the display look entirely; it's not the best axe in the world for hard use but it is a fantastic collectors item.
I guess I expected better from cold steel after watching their video for it.
