The model for most subsequent sci-fi films
A film I had to have in my collection. It's seminal images are weaved like a thread through popular culture at so many levels. Possibly the director's bset film apart from Strangelove.

A brilliant product that out shines the iPad in many ways
Brilliant - one of my best Ebay purchases ever. I purchased a refurbished Xoom, 32 GB, 3G. I had to purchase a sim card seperately to get the 3G internet - however I found one for £10 per month from THREE. Xoom is an Android device and comes with Honeycombe 3.1. I use my Xoom everyday for web browsing news, weather, facebook, forums and Wiki and it works fine. I have loaded a fair number of music tracks onto and when these started to eat up the memory I added an 8GB Micro sim (8GB). I Now have all my photos on there as well as a large number of pod casts. BBC iPlayer has an Android app which works very well indeed - better than watching on our desktops or the Wii as it seems to require less bandwidth. The Xoom is perfoect for Skype which I use often. I have compared the Xoom to a friend's Ipad 2 - the Xoom has a higher resolution screen, a much better camera on the back (5mp) and a built in flash. Xoom has stereo speakers, however iPads single speaker still produced a more satisfying sound. The Xoom sounds best when propped up against a had surface. I have bought some small PC speakers for when I need extra powerful sound. The Xoom is thicker and heavier than the iPad and I have added a rubber cover as I'm always scared of dropping it - the metal case is a bit slick. Battery seems to last for at least a day of heavy use and several days of light use. There are thousands of Android apps, and anything that appears in the iPad shop seems to have an Android equivalent. I use the Google star map and satelite tracker - brilliant. GPS works well, however you need the internet online to get really detailed maps - there are some basic maps loaded. The xoom always knows where you are and you can set the Google search engine to take this into account when searching - useful on holiday when you need a restaurant in a hurry. I have had a problem where the Xoom has, on one occasion failed to start. I found that a hard reset was required which did not loose any data but was not in the manual. Hold down the power button and the volume up button for a few seconds and everything is fixed. I traded in a lap top to buy this product. It is not a replacement for the lap top as it does not come with an office suite equivalent (although I understand several suites are available on the Android apps Market). Since there is only a virtual keyboard I do think I would be able to create anything but simple documents. The xoom will, apparently, work with a blue tooth keyboard and mouse although I have not tried this.
