Possibly the best 24" widescreen monitor available
Possibly the best monitor in its class. I have bought 3 of these monitors and 2 of its predecessor, the 2407. The updates in the 2408 are definately worth having - extra inputs, wider gamut, better contrast, built-in sRGB colour mode ...
One of the primary reasons why I choose these monitors is because of the very wide viewing angles. This means that two people can sit side by side - for example an artist and a client, or just two people watching the telly, and they will both be looking at the same picture in the same colours. This is not true for cheaper-end monitors.
I use one as a TV - feeding the output from a Freeview box straight into the HDMI on the monitor - faultless. The monitor is capable of greater resolution that all current broadcast HD standards. Bear in mind that the monitor has no speakers, although a 'soundbar' is available. It attaches underneath the lower bezel and plugs into sockets on the underside. I assume that it contains a couple of speakers but I've never actually seen, used or heard one.
I do have an issue regarding the backlight - it functions perfectly giving a very uniform display, but I am begining to question its reliability. Although after 4 years of near continuous daily use I guess I shouldn't expect too much.
I'm sure that there are better monitors out there; but you'd need to spend £800+ (and another £1000 on a graphics card) to notice any significant improvement.
The design is elegent, minimal and unobtrusive. The stand is the best I've seen and puts others to shame. It swings left and right, tilts back and forth, rotates 90 degrees to portrait format and rises and falls with fingertip pressure. It's also well engineered, solid, stable and encourages tidy cabling.
At around £420 new they are quite expensive, although very good value. At half that, on the second-hand market they are an absolute bargain. If you want to see the sort of reputation these monitors have, just take a look at the monitors in the background of any TV news, science or sports programme, and see how many of these you can count.
The only improvement I would like is for it to be bigger, cheaper and make the tea.

Good, Clean, Simple and Accurate
1 of 1 found this helpful It's difficult for a clock to be 'excellent' but this one is a good, clean, easy-to-read kitchen clock that you know is accurate all the time the hands are moving.
You put a battery in it, you hang it on the wall and it tells you the right time. It's unreasonable to expect much else from a clock.
I've rated it at 4* because 5* encourages complacency - and I can't believe it's perfect.
The price of this clock varies considerably; it's available for £35 - £40 so don't pay more than you need.
