The Infinite Plan By Isabel Allende. 9780002241915

Beautiful emotionally written circular self help book about a search for love and finding inner peace and contentment.
I have known this book for over 13 years it was originally published in 1994 and was recommended by my then Dominican girlfriend in New York. It is a book I read once a year as a guide to be a self help book without the recommendation by Oprah Winfrey and have lent the book to friends and former associates to read rarely receiving it back, however since travel is restricted I have had to buy the book again to read during another lockdown. So its important that Isabel Allende a Peruvian writer based in the LA west coast and now writes books with her love of Japanese culture is a wonderful enriching author with well developed characters usually Woman and empowerment and a heartfelt connection to any plot arc she desires. This story was the first of hers set in America to portray American characters prior to that her stories were based in the practical magical ideas within South American culture. The Infinite Plan is a wonderful tale of Gregory one man’s search for love, and his struggle to come to terms with a childhood of poverty and neglect. His father as a traveling preacher which due to this caused him fraught in his ideals and upbringing. As he journeys from the Hispanic barrio in Los Angeles to the killing fields of Vietnam to the frenetic life of a lawyer in San Francisco. Gregory Reeves loses himself in an illusory and wrongheaded quest. Only when he circles back to his roots does he find the love and acceptance he has been searching for. The idea of this is about acceptance and learning your path to happiness and with all life's lessons learnt along the way. Ironically this is not highly recommended as a book by Allende but to me it far surpasses most of her other work..

Firsky Dingo-Weird Name? Great Program!
The tale of two extremes the first Killface, the lovable destructive creature from another planet who wants to destroy the earth, looks after his son Simon (who is a man of few words) and plans to do this by building a machine that drives the earth into the sun, but he has run out of money to finish his machine. Now this is where the fun begins, Killface creatively uses people to help him try to rule the earth, but all this is not simple. His nemesis the second extreme is playboy millionaire Alexander Cruz who has no regard for human life and is a superhero, not a great one at that to save the world from Killface. Throw in a man who changes to a crab, a robotic South African maid, a fat assistant, a hip-hop star, a lesibien marketing manager and others and you have a show that is not only weird but wonderful. I can't give too much away but if you love Sealab 2021, and the new creation by Adam Reed 'Archer' then you'll love this. I highly recommend this to anyone who love surreal cartoons.

Be Kind Rewind-Makes you remember why you loved Movies
I decided to buy this Movie because Michel Gondry is the most inventive director out there today and makes the most imaginable work ever. The story is about a video store in the middle of New Jersey, which will be shut down due the building being condemnable. In this shop the owner Mr Fletcher (Danny Glover) has had this store for many years and his co-worker Mike (Mos Def)is like a lost son. The business is doing very bad and sells to hardly a few customers. Within their day Jerry (Jack Black) a local mechanic is a nuisance to Mr Fletcher, but is best friends with Mike. During the movie Mike and Jerry make movies as a hobby which are very low budget and quaint.. Jerry one night decides he wishes to destroy the electricity power plant near his trailer home and accidental gets electrocuted. While Mr Fletcher is away and Mike is running the shop, Jerry who is become magnetized, and without knowing this goes to meet Mike at the video shop to accidentally have demagnetized all the Video tapes, unfortunately a customer wants the film Ghostbusters, so Jerry And Mike have to re-create it within four hours. Obviously this is a task but they succeed to make a film an hour and a half long into a 20 mins lo-fi budget 'Sweded' version. Then what follow on is Rush Hour 2 and before they know it people like their made-up versions, and in this process they get a worker from the local laundrette to help out. Eventually they have created well over 200 films. I cannot tell you the rest as it would spoil it for you. this film is so well done and is quaint and really shows you what the real essence of movie making is, I think Michel Gondry has done a great film but to be honest it isn't as visually appealing as Science OF Sleep (My favourite Michel Gondry film) If you love movies buy this, and if you want to watch more artisitc filsm this wouldn't be a bad bet.. After a while within the film, the films become so successful that the owner who has been out of time is shocked at the success.
