Every home should have one !
1 of 1 found this helpful I remember working - and drinking - in the Kings Road in Chelsea during the late 70's and Punks regularly putting the decidedly non-punk 'Werewolves of London' on the juke box ! I always thought that it felt like an escaped Skynrd song and of course with Kid Rock mixing it 'Sweet Home Alabama' it sort has become such.
Stirring fond memories as it did I fancied geting 'Werwolves ..' so I'll buy a greatest hits I thought. Blimey. 'Dark' is a word that everyone seems to use to describe, so I wont. It is however very weird - some great tunes mixed with unsettling subjects. aND INCIDENTALLY he slags off Skynrd on one track, the name of which escapes me.
However the song 'Lawyers,Guns and Money' is an absolute diamond and is worth the price of the album alone !!!!
This CD is full of good tunes but it also entertains and makes you think. It will be the best album you buy this year - indeed on the strength of this album alone I'm going to buy-up his back catalogue - SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR - BUY IT NOW !!!!

Reasonably clever and very enjoyable
You could enjoy the arrangements even if you'd never heard the Sabbath originals, very entertaining.

Makin' Travers Magic .....
1 of 1 found this helpful Superb gutsy album from before he converted to doing seemingly endless worthy but dull blues collections. Travers was phenominally dynamic this early in his career - and as for blues covers listen to the blistering 'Statesboro Blues' on this album, then compare it to the subsequent ham-fisted version on one of the endless blues cover albums he's done - or pretty much any of the songs on them. However, to make real Travers magic search e-bay for the cd's 'Heat in the Street' or 'Crash and Burn' or the vinyl lp's 'Radioactive' or 'Black Pearl' ( no cd releases yet alas ) for superb and masterful rock'n'roll with depth and some pop sensibilities. But whatever you do, get a copy 'Makin Magic' and enjoy ......
