Nokia 6230i
I dont like Nokia's as a rule. But although this phone is basic to the eye, it does everything you want in a phone. The only grumble I have with it, is the poor clarity in the screen thats why a give it 4/5 on just that.....Its older sister 6230 is worse, as the screen has a pasty dull screen to it, but both are a excellent phone if you ignore this.
The difference in the two phones 6230i and the 6230 are the screen, menu regarding it in looks, and the camera. The camera on the 6230i is 1.3 MP as apposed to less than 0.5 MP on the 6230. I regard this phone as a close second to the Sony K750i being more bullet proof and no problems with the navigation keys as you do with the K750i joystick.

Motorola V545 Bullet Proof Mobile Phone.
3 of 3 found this helpful The best phone I have ever had...Its been through the wars, dropped, thrown about and it still works. It has everything you want in a mobile phone of this class. Video recording with sound, bluetooth, excellent clear screen, and easy to follow menus. I now own a Sony w850i which can be quite complicated to use and very fragile as it has already had a new screen by dropping it from about two feet. I will always look at the V545 with fondness in the uncomplicated menus and forgiving robust use of this phone.

Samsung D600
10 of 11 found this helpful The Samsung D600 Mobile phone is one of the best phones I have come across for practicality and ease of use. It has all the functions you would want in a phone, Bluetooth, Mp3 player, video capture and playback with sound, a nice 2 megapixel camera with zoom, and mobile internet capable also. It also has the facility to connect up to you home TV or video via a phone to video phono cable. Ringtones are quite loud and the MP3 playback through the on board stereo speakers of the phone is also good. Phone calls are clear with ample volume to hear the person calling when in a loud environment. Battery life is good also although I only had this hanset on test for about two days and the battery had plenty of life left. The menus are child play and I found my way around them without reading the manual.
Look out for well used handsets, things wear on this model. You can get problems with the ribbon cable joining the two sliding sections of the phone resulting in a white screen or a completely dead screen and phone! The sliding mechanism can also jam or worse fall to bits. The screen outer plastic lens can get quite scuffed making pictures and the menus having a blurred apperance although a change of housing would give the phone a new lease of life but changing the housing is very fiddly and best left to the professional repair shop. Try not to drop the phone as a cracked LCD can result... have a look on ebay under "D600 faulty" and count how many there are!! Replacement LCD screens are ready available but are expensive and again very fiddly to replace. One last thing, as most mobile phones....Dont get it wet, it wont like you very much and will die or if you are lucky pout like a child until it dries out!
