Well made and good value
Why buy a used one that could leak when you can get a new one at this price and delivered straight away. Simple to replace with a little syphoning off. Just need to transfer your sensor and cap and you're away!

Excellent Humax DTR-T2000 Remote
After considering buying what were claiming to be replacement original remotes or copies, some of which were ridiculous prices, I looked at the description and decided to take a chance by buying this completely different one at a very reasonable price.
I didn't particularly like the feel of the original remote which had only lasted about a year before some buttons began to fail. From reviews I have read this is only to be expected. Also, I have a very similar one for my satellite recorder with a confusingly slightly different layout (how on earth Humax managed that I'll never understand). My satellite one hasn't had so much use so hasn't failed yet! As a bonus I figured that having a completely different one meant that I wouldn't pick up the wrong one again!
I was a bit concerned as I recalled having to re-code one of the original remotes as each operated both boxes initially. Again, another brilliant bit of Humax engineering! However, I needn't have been concerned. After swopping the batteries across, this replacement worked straight out of the box and only for Youview - just as described.
It feels solid and well-engineered as the buttons have an easy and positive feel. The layout is pretty intuitive and I soon got used to it after a few goes. Although I haven't searched for the zoom yet, everything seems to work as intended. Only time will tell if it goes the distance but I would certainly recommend this replacement remote at the price.

Newer System OK but TomTom Seem to Have Started Again
Bought this as the socket on my old 720 was being repaired when I need it for a trip to France. This was relatively cheap using an eBay repairer but he told me these new ones are even less designed for repairs - so I hope I never need to find out! I'm now retired and at the moment still much prefer the multiple options, colour display and operating screens of my old updated 720. The big and more sensitive screen is good. The colours are bland but it is visually clearer in showing which exit to take when approaching roundabouts. The robust mount (expensive for another in a 2nd car) works OK but the magnet could be less powerful. I inadvertently threw it across the dash on my first attempt at removal. I had real trouble updating initially as it kept stopping and needed reconnecting. At one point it worryingly wiped the whole thing! Having read other reviews I put in some extra memory but so far I don't think it makes a difference or is needed. I've said it's easy to use but I do have a bit of a problem navigating the new more restricted and renamed menus. I put this down to years of use of the old TomTom system and a new or younger user might find them OK straight away. I found that I can still use Tyre for routes and, from what I've read, the software seems to be improving, albeit extremely slowly. So, for example, my own POIs will hopefully be a lot easier to see and use in the future as at the moment the screen cannot display the icons. With lifetime road and camera updates as well as traffic holdups this one should turn out to be better value than my 720 in the long run - depending on what lifetime actually turns out to be!
