One year after Jack Bauer (Keifer Sutherland) helps save the life of now President David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert), he is living an empty life. He no longer works at the Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU), he is estranged from his daughter Kim (Elisha Cuthbert), and is mourning the death of his wife Teri (Leslie Hope). When he is unwillingly pulled back into the CTU to help locate and disarm a nuclear bomb, things get real dicey, real fast. This is a Jack Bauer who has been hardened by the last year. He is unafraid to use deadly force and shows his brutality by sawing off a guy's head, executing a child, and shooting various people who get in his way.

24 series 3 sees the show at its grittiest, darkest, and also most haughty all in all much better than the first. Not only can you stay up all night, boggling as the plot becomes ever more complex - but you can also skip through the torture scenes and the Mexicans. The DVD is nicely put-together, but suffers from the same problem as previous releases - the menus spoil you as to either Who is Coming Back or Who is Going To Die.
