Wiity andv ery enjoyable
I first came across this author whilst reading a book on railway history!
Albert Smith is one of the long-forgotten writers of the mid-Victorian era. His comic accounts of these mid-Victorians are both amusing and sightful. This volume pokes fun at the emerging middle classes and their pretensions.
His other novels, such a Christopher Tadpole, show Smith as an expert not just on the Victorian age, but also can act a guide book to the world that this age explored.
John Leech's illustrations add much to these volumes

An Interesting Read
Best read if you know the area and you have an OS map to follow. A useful guide to places in the area which you can visit.
