Its a stunner. Yes, at times it does feel a tad patronising in the 'Disney does the Blues' veneered production, but then this isn't intended to be an 100% accurate historical depiction - it's an entertainment based on real events, and it entertains extraordinarily well. The songs are incredibly accurate in their use of the blues tonal palette - the guitars have all of the beautiful asthmatic, wheezing valve amp tone of the originals. Also a moving portrayal of Etta James by Beyonce. Buy it!
