Great solution-you need both components
This is my second time repairing the rear A/C of my Caravan. Thank you Dodge for the poor design that is prone to failure. Both times the expansion valve was impossible to separate from the evaporator. This solution, solves that problem and comes with new expansion valve and o rings. Note: don't just cap off the lines and NOT install the rear evaporator. The rear seat passengers will swelter and despise you and your van. Do not believe the blogs where people have done this.
If you tackle this job yourself, there are videos that show how to do it. Make certain you evacuate the system. Disconnect the refrigerant lines from under the vehicle (remove the rear wheel). Clean those lines with brake or carb cleaner before you disconnect them. You can reuse the connector lines if they are in good shape. Otherwise, replace them. Don't try to remove the lines from expansion valve with the unit in vehicle. That is far more difficult, if not impossible with unit in the vehicle. Vacume everything around the blower area. You do not want any dust or debris inside the refrigerant lines.
Once the evaporator has been replaced, assemble blower and check the controls before you place it into position. Make certain they work (hot/cold, airflow).
If you reuse the refrigerant lines, clean with a soft brush or scotch brite pad. Coat the lines with PAG oil in/out and et the oil run out, removing any possibility of foreign matter. Reconnect everything using PAG oil only. Connect the refrigerant lines behind the rear wheel finger tight many revolutions. Don't force them using a wrench. They will snug by hand. Then install the blower. It will drop right on top of the lines. Secure using the 10mm nut.
Reassemble the rest of interior.
Vacume the system, check for leaks, recharge and enjoy the cold!

Best IR remote on this or any ohter planet!
You cannot go wrong with this remote. Great design, rugged and it just works. Programs easily and the "help" button is my wife's favorite. Logitech no longer manufacturers this unit, but there a plenty out there and there are parts available to fix them if you have a problem.
I own several of these and would never give them up!
Go and get one!

More Power!!!
Recall "Tim The Tool Man Taylor?" TV show, Home Improvement.
AT&T recently was working on our local cell tower and for a month they essentially killed cell service. So....we needed more power and this little device does the trick. Not only that, it covers the entire house, upstairs, downstairs and basement. It even covers outside the house, but we have it connected only to our cell phones only.
