Perfect replacement gas lift piston
1 of 1 found this helpful The gas lift of my office chair was acting up, weeping and dropping height at random, so I bought this to replace it and it did the job perfectly! A little bit of common sense required to drift out the old one (with a decent size hammer and an old socket to release it from the leg 'spider'. The 9" one gives a bit of extra height, which is great if you are taller than average. Old one out, new one in, half an hour and job done! Given the old chair a new lease of life and I can now have a snooze without being woken up by the faulty piston ;)

Could have been better packaged, as looks to have suffered in but works OK... even if the performance doesn't match the hype?!
0 of 1 found this helpful Having had great experience with the Dyson Outlet, I was expecting more excellent products at good savings, with some compromises on being refurbished products. That said, my previous purchases looked and worked like brand spanking new! Sadly, not this time. It had several scratches on the body, the stem and numerous paint chips on the silver painted surface on the inner annulus. I have to say that it would have been less damaged if some comedian who had packed the item had not just left the weighted base rattling around inside, as I am convinced this has caused most of the dings, whilst in transit. I couldn't say for sure, but I'd have a tenner on it. Anyway, with some patience, polish, elbow grease and carefully touching up the chips with some matching paint, it now looks like it ought to and not some battered example I paid 50 quid for on eBay (even though this one was from their eBay shop, but you know what I mean?!).
Also, whoever said it was quiet must have cloth ears, as at speeds any more than '3' (it goes to '10'), it's no quieter in my opinion than a regular fan. At speeds of '3' or less, it's hard to discern any beneficial movement of air, so it may be quiet at low speeds, but it's also not worth having on, so I don't see the point?
It looks funky and works well, but to me is no quieter than a regular fan. I just like the idea of it.... and that's the marketing magic of Mr. Dyson!
(Just have a word with your packers on the 'Outlet Despatch' line?)

Style over Substance
6 of 7 found this helpful Bought this to match my Samsung LED TV. Same gloss black styling, with the requisite shiny bits and blue background lighting. Easy one box set up, but as usual, the bare minimum of cables (no HDMI, no Optical, etc). Speakers a bit 'in-yer-face' as they're also gloss black, 4ft tall and look like emaciated Daleks, but sound OK (with the exception of the 'sledgehammer' subtlety of the sub-woofer). Powered it up and..... the Blu-ray drive mechanism clatters and clicks like a demented pinball machine and the noise from the cooling fan is an omnipresent drone, in all but the loudest of scenes. Had it back to Samsung, who replaced both components and Hey Presto!...exactly the same. Now they tell me that these are 'characteristic' of the unit. Call me Mr. Picky, or maybe I was spoilt previously, but this replaced a 5yr old Panasonic DVD-HDD Player/Recorder and Home Cinema Amp, which did just as good a job (albeit not in HD) and the mechanicals were whisper quiet. I could replace it with another, but it appears that this is 'normal' and I'm stuck with Samsung 'cos of the telly. The top surface attracts dust like wasps to a jam jar, but given the design, I should have expected that. Also, DON'T even think about buying the wi-fi dongles at £50 a pop (and yes, you have to buy 2 - one for the TV AND one for the Blu-Ray). There's just no content and almost zero internet capability, apart from YouTube and some useless Yahoo 'Widgets', so if you were expecting doing some 'TV' surfing, forget it sunshine. If you must get them 'connected', use a Powerline network adaptor and 2 lengths of Cat5 cable. Hopefully, future firmware updates will introduce some more useful internet content, so one can only live in hope? Otherwise that's another white elephant.
The cruel irony is that I need the unit linked to my TV, to provide the sound, instead of the peashooter speakers on the TV. I knew that already and didn't expect the TV speakers to be up to much, given the TV is about as thick as a cream cracker. However, given most of the normal TV viewing is not movie content (e.g. news, soaps, docu's etc.) the background noise spoils the whole experience. Make up your own minds, but I wouldn't have another for a gold pig.
