Audiolab 8200A integrated amplifier
04 Jan, 2019
Yes the 8200A is good but the older 8000A (before Tag/IAG ownership of Audiolab) is better :-)
It's well built, powerful amplifier. But the Audiolab 8000A (circa 1996) does sound better. You do get a remote with 8200A to change the volume, but then again no bass and treble tone controls that are on the 8000A, which useful to correct for bad recordings or tricky acoustics. With the 8200A you can easily split out the pre and power amp sections to combine with a surround sound receiver. But with the 8000A all need is a good speaker switching box (I use a QED one) and an AV receiver that has a Front L/R phono/RCA out (quite often called Zone 2 or pre Front Out). Yes the 8200A is good but the older 8000A (before Tag/IAG ownership of Audiolab) is better :-)
