External mic + headphone adapter for iPad/iPhone

I wanted to use an external stereo microphone to record better sound quality into my iPad but wanted to know what it sounded like with a headphone. I had searched the web for wiring diagrams, plugs, etc and was about to buy the individual parts and solder my own when I saw this advertised and realised I couldn't make one for the price of this one! I am delighted with it, it works very well, is small and compact. I would recommend anyone wanting to record onto iPad/iPhone using an external mic to purchase and try one of these. Using RecorderHQ app (upgraded by paying £3.99) I'm able to control recording volume manually also to monitor input through the headset.
