Brilliant! Worth every dollar.
I've had many HOHNER OF GERMANY products over the years: Blues Harp ... Special 20 and while I use them mainly to add a little sonic variety to my songs and bend a few notes ... they have always served me really well. The Hohner Crossover is very definitely in a class above the others I have for its brilliant sound, quick response and bendaility.
While it is more expensive, I've realized that since these instruments last 'forever', it absolutely makes sense to get the best that you can afford.
These are definitely worth every penny and if I buy any more, I will gladly pay the extra money for them.

A Guitar with a Personality.
I bought an OMC Aura in 2005 thinking I was buying a nice guitar. It has an amazing look about it without being over the top flashy. When I first got it the sound was a bit dry but over time, it has developed into a warm but 'tight' sounding guitar.
I plug into a Radial JDI when I am playing out. Most sound guys will reach for the EQ knobs when I first start playing and I can see their hands linger over the panel ... then they'll frown ... but the hand is still over the EQ ... and then they'll gingerly retract the hand because they can't think of a frequency to cut or boost! :D ... seriously.
This is not a dreadnought ... so don't expect that big, open, jingle jangle, easy-strum kind of guitar sound. The sound is 'tighter' and each string holds its own whether you are strumming, flat-picking single notes or playing fingerstyle.
I've found that this guitar has changed how I play because there are things I can do on it that I've never been able to do with my dreadnoughts. Guitarist friends have noticed that I 'dig in' when I'm playing nowadays and that by doing so I am getting sounds out of it that you just don't get when you're 'tinkling' around on a guitar. It's almost like some cars are just not meant to be 'gently' driven . . . this guitar will get you to play even your softer pieces with a more decisive feel on your right hand - whether it is flat pick or finger style.
The real joy of playing this guitar is when you are plugged in to a PA through a good DI. You can hammer the strings and the sound absolutely holds up without the least bit of jarring or fret-buzz or clipping [unless you've got the action set up low ... in which case ... you will not hear the sounds this guitar can really put out].
I don't use Light strings - and I have the action set to be able to 'dig in' as it were. You should do the same.
This guitar will stay in my family for generations. Great look, unique sound & incredible electronics.
