Excellent new addition to field of Alexander study.
This book succeeds in providing new information about the life of Alexander the Great, and that is very difficult in such a well trodden field. It is excellent on pulling together the accounts of Alexander’s life from many ancient sources, as well as recent archeological discoveries and what they add to our know our knowledge of him, his father and Macedon.

Back to basics
The story of Alexander the Great is well known, but what makes this book compelling is the way it constantly goes back to the original classical sources for the incidents of his life, and then evaluates their likely credibility.
A must addition to the library of any student of Alexander.

Best account of Battle of Verdun.
Probably the best book on the battle of Verdun that I have read, by probably the best author of modern French military history.
