An engaging story well told and very well acted out.
This 2003 version of Persuasion with Amanda Root starring as Anne, is well worth owning, not least because it is excellent in its own right and also because it can be revisited when the name of the game for two successive evenings is first to watch this version, followed the next evening by a viewing of the 2007 version, with Anne being played by Sally Hawkins. There are sufficient similarities and sufficient differences between the two interpretations of the novel, and of the characters portrayed, to make possible a most interesting "Compare and contrast" exercise. Both versions are to be commended for the clarity of exposition, the quality of the acting, and the enhancing camera work. If I was told I could retain only one of them, I would go for the 2003 version, but my wife would go for the 2007 version. I would far rather hang on to both.

Oustanding cathedral choir singing from the 1960s and 1970s
Remarkable singing from a very good choir under the direction of Barry Rose, an outstanding cathedral choir trainer known nationally and internationally for his work with boys' voices in particular. Well recorded too.
