About

I'm a watch collector, record collector, guitar collector at a point of life where I'm thinning out the fruits of my obsessions, while I still can and while I'm still here, able to do so. I'd spin in my grave if my family sold it all off cheap to the first house clearance person that came along.

Thanks again for your understanding. I'm really sorry that it didn't arrive despite the Royal Mail tracking service. I know how challenging it can sometimes be to find parts for our vintage watches. I do hope you find another soon.

Moby - Animal Rights (CD 1996)
I saw Moby perform this material at Reading festival back in 96 when it came out. Previously I'd only heard his rave stuff which didn't float my boat and then this came out proving Moby was just an old metalhead / punk like many of the rest of us. It is very metal in places with but he's still sticking is beats in there, 'That's When I Reach For My Revolver' and 'Say It's all Mine' being the standout tracks. There are a couple of lighter instumentals on hear showing the way to the later Play album but it's not an album for the 'Play' era fan unless you like seriously rock out guitars. Vocally Moby's voice is better suited to what he is better known for but I would be out there buying the next rock album he made on the strength of this. The guy can play guitar!

Most Underrated album of the 90's
OK a sweeping statement but I stand by it as it is a masterpiece in songwriting, recording, performance and style. The syle is a marriage of indie guitars, reggae basslines and hip hop beats, one of the first bands to bwe doing this kind of material. Martin Merchant was undoubtedly the best singer out of Manchester and possibly the UK in 20 years, check 'Personal Feeling' for him at his simmering best, if you're not aware of his split personality vocal you'd be forgiven for thinking there were two vocalists in the band when he switches from his sugar sweet singing to his ragga style chatting. The production was done by Altered Images guitar man, now 1rst division producer, Steve Lironi and the album is sonically stunning. Highlights are 'Policeman Skank', 'Personal Feeling', 'Control' and 'Get Out of Here'. 'Policeman Skank' got a Freestylers makeover back in the day. Saying that there's not a bad song on the record. The pedigree of the band has been proven as the bass player and drummer teamed up with Ian Brown and the guitarist has been playing with badly Drawn Boy, we need either re-union or the rumoured new record from Mr Merchant as it's well overdue. As to why I bought a copy off eBay, I keep lending mine out to people and not getting it back, this is my 4th copy.

Superb album from ex Chameleons frontman
I'm a longtime Chameleons fan & this album is a must for anyone who views themselves as the same. This collaboration between Mark Burgess & Yves Altana captures the full essence of the whole Chamelons sound & then adds a little extra all of it's own, the songs are excellent & show Yves brilliant guitar playing at it's best. The various name changes of the post Chameleon work does confuse a little but this is one of my personal favourites. Also check out the Yves & Mark collaboration 'Paradyning.' Come on lads let's have some more.
