Worked as a direct replacement for our PS3’s broken blu-ray deck
By using videos on YouTube we were able to disassemble our PS3 and access the blu-ray drive deck. The old deck and the newly purchased deck appeared to be identical.
Once swapped out and reassembled, the full functionality of our PS3 was restored. Spent $30–ish dollars and saved $400, as I was eyeing a PS4 Pro. Was reluctant in doing so, as the PS5 is supposed to be out in Oct 2020. We’ll see.
Hopefully the repair will be lasting. We are only casual users of games and blu-rays.
This repair was performed on a PS3 Fat (60GB) and it worked like a charm.
