A superb series offering a convincing and unforgettable vision of 1940s life in Occupied France.
We have been totally 'hooked' on this series since Season 1. It has given us a vivid sense - and better understanding - of the pressures and tensions of the everyday realities - both local and national - of Occupied France in the 1940s and its aftermath. Against its impressively recreated period backdrop is played out a complex and subtly drawn web of human relationships, compellingly brought to life by powerful acting and fascinating period detail.
