Wonderfully helpful and very prompt replies and delivery. Would definitely recommend. Delivery was in the post in less than an hour after ordering, to try and make sure it arrived before Christmas despite all the strikes (& it arrived in plenty of time) - thank you!

You'll be really 'chuffed' with this volume Woo Woo clickety click.
I have always been interested in the railways but was, and I'll admit it, never an actual trainspotter but buses and BRS lorries were my thing.
However, at 64,I have recently become a volunteer helping to rebuild the railway line between Alnwick(where I live)to Alnmouth on the coast some 2.75 miles away, the Aln Valley railway.
In the light of this and in order to brush up on my train history knowledge I purchased this virtually new volume at a bargain price In a very readable yet authoritative way the book tells of the early days/development/peak/decline and future of the Iron way. Also included is a current list of all the heritage steam railways in the country.
I am now a bit of a railway know all thanks to this volume. To say I'm 'chuffed' with my purchase is an understatement.
Well moulded metal cogs in various sizes. Nice accessories to steampunk costume.

A sorely missed beautiful branch line. Memories.
A very authoritative and well researched volume about a sorely missed beautiful branch line axed in the 1960.
A nice large format packed full of archive pictures and information leaving nothing out.
Makes one realise how shortsighted planners can be, what an opportunity missed.
Altogether a very enjoyable 'textbook'
